Gucci says 'No' to the use of animal skins in its collections

Gucci mink coat

Italian luxury firm Gucci has announced that it will no longer "use, promote or advertise animal skins" in its collections. So no more mink coats like this will be seen in your shows.

In addition, The influential fashion house to join the Alliance Against Fur, an international coalition of dozens of animal protection organizations whose purpose is to end animal cruelty in the fur industry.

In this way, Gucci will stop using, among others, mink or kangaroo fur for its products. Let us remember that slippers made with this last technique are among its hallmarks. And it is to be expected that they will remain as such, but naturally from now on they will be made of synthetic leather, which is a small triumph for animal rights activists.

Stella McCartney

With his insistence on investing in sustainable and synthetic leathers since the birth of the brand that bears his name, Stella McCartney is the leader of this movement, although it is not the only one that has banned furs in its collections. Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani, whose first fur-free collection was Fall / Winter 2016-2017, are also proponents of faux fur.

And we won't have to wait long to see the first results of this newly acquired Gucci commitment to the Alliance Against Fur. Alessandro Michele is preparing the next spring / summer 2018 collection following this new philosophy free of animal skins.
