The car navigator update
Until two or three years ago, updating the car navigator was a complex process for car owners. Embedded systems only supported an annual update (some brands keep that frequency up to date). However, in order to access the new data, a memory card or DVD had to be ordered from the manufacturer and installed manually.
In some cases, when the update was finally installed, the new information was out of date.
A world in constant motion
It is estimated that the maps of the planet suffer up to 2,7 million changes every day. Only in Spain, the annual average of updates is 2.000 cases.
Streets that change their names or meanings circulation, new structures and others that disappear, in addition to multiple incidents, planned or accidental, that involve modifications in geography of a place.
How to update - a quick and easy process
To upgrade most embedded devices, just ddownload the respective software from a computer and save it to a USB device with at least 4GB of storage. The next thing is to connect the storage unit with the information to the USB terminal of the car and follow the instructions on the screen.
The same principle applies to non-integrated appliances, except that thanks to their nature of laptops they connect directly to the computer.
In their cars "on line", drivers receive update alerts directly on the screen, periodically and automatically. The software update runs in the background, so the GPS continues to work normally.
