Testicular Cancer

A few days ago we talked about prostate cancer, but today we will talk about another type of cancer that also affects men a lot, testicular cancer.

El testicular cancer It consists of the formation of malignant cells in the tissues of one or both testicles. It is the most common in men between 25 and 35 years old.

Although all men have the possibility of having testicular cancer, if you present these risk factors it would be advisable to consult your doctor:

  • Family background
  • Different-sized or abnormal testicles
  • An undescended testicle
  • Be white
  • Having the Klinefelter syndrome

The cause of the formation of this type of cancer is still unknown.

The vast majority of testicular cancer cases are detected by the patient himself. It does not produce general symptoms that could lead to a suspicion of a medical problem, such as fever or pain. Since testicular cancer is curable when detected early, experts recommend monthly testicular self-examination after a hot shower, when the scrotum is most relaxed. The male should gently examine each testicle by feeling for hard lumps and then comparing the two.

Symptoms include:

  • a small, fixed lump in the testicle itself, usually painless
  • slight pain or heaviness in a testicle (without having received a recent blow)
  • a sudden buildup of fluid in the scrotum
  • slight enlargement or discomfort in the nipples or breasts
  • dull pain in the lower abdomen or groin
  • significant increase or decrease in the size of a testicle

Any of these symptoms should be consulted with the doctor, if possible the urologist, as soon as possible, although in themselves they are not a sure sign of cancer.
