F1 Special in Valencia: Shopping in the center

Valencia is not famous for its incredible menswear stores Far from it, but there are some interesting ones to visit, whether they are jewelers, fashion stores, delicatessens ... looking, you always find interesting things. In addition, it is not going to be everything to see practice and races.

Shopping downtown is always nice. From the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (in the photo) to Gran Vía passing through Calle Colón, the latter being full of Inditex, H&M and other stores. But to recommend visiting these stores, I do not recommend anything. So let's go to our thing.

From the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, walking a few minutes along Calle Barcas, passing Poeta Querol (the street with the luxury shops of the city and about which we will talk at length another day), to the right by the spectacular building of the Bank of Valencia we arrived at El Corte Inglés by Pintor Sorolla, one of the most important in Spain in terms of sales.

The men's floor is not bad; Versace, Loewe, Armani, Pal Zileri, Belstaff ... and other quite important brands, although yes, with much more influx than in the ECI of Avenida de Francia. It also highlights its area of shoe shop, where I would say that the best they have is Tod's, which is already going well. And for the most gentlemen, there are also pajamas and dressing gowns La Perla for men. What damage has Hugh Hefner done to men's fashion ...

In his day there was La Martina, True Religion and other important brands that some thinking head decided to withdraw from sale. In fact, in the first edition of the Copa América sailing, foreign tourists swept away the True Religion as they were much cheaper to change. Solution, remove them. The complements; belts, ties, cufflinks… are also acceptable.

It can also be found at Pintor Sorolla Adidas Originals, which is located right next to the clothing and accessories line of the illustrated Paris Hilton. Do not believe that it can be found in many more places.

Leaving Pintor Sorolla and retracing our steps, there is an alley that crosses with Barcas, Calle Moratín, to which I would not go at night, where is it located William Miralles, a prestigious store when it comes to men's clothing. Brands like Boglioli, Jil Sander, Tod's, BOSS Black… and also custom tailoring. I do not like it. He has good marks and all that, yes, but everything he has I see extremely serious and sober, with very rare exceptions. Maybe when I'm 30 or 40, if it still works, buy my shirts and jumpers here. You just have to see the place inside to imagine the style it proposes. Even so I insist, it is a very respectable store.

Away from the City Hall, in the Hernán Cortés Street, perpendicular to Colón and Gran Vía, is located Hanover, another of the important stores as far as fashion is concerned. Honestly it is my favourite store, both for its products and for its incredible and exquisite treatment. It's nice that you get well cared for from time to time. Regarding the brands and clothing that can be found in Hannover, take note; magnificent poles of Fay, ostentatious shirts and polos from La Martina, excellent shoes from Crocket and jones, tailoring of Brioni and Belstaff jackets, for example. Obviously there are also more brands such as Hackett, Loro Piana, Tod's, Alden, Façonnable ... Their selection of shoes is also noteworthy.

Leaving Hannover towards Gran Vía, and walking a few minutes, it is Pepe Bosca, probably the best offer of sunglasses and prescription glasses in Valencia. I have not seen another optic with at least so many brands. His treatment is also exquisite. You sit down, they advise you, you try on the models you want ... and all this without people around. A luxury.

And since we are in Boscá, and although it does not come to mind, in the opposite corner, there is a small low that you can hardly see where they are the best ice creams in town. The place is called Gran Vía Ice CreamIt is a familiar place without even a place to sit. You take the ice cream and you take it with you. The best hazelnut I have ever tasted.

And already in gastronomic matters, on the corner of Gran Vía and Ruzafa is Butter shops Vicente Castillo. The best store delicatessen From Valencia. Great wines, countless whiskeys and tremendous Iberian. If you are lucky enough to be served by Vicente himself, a true sybarite, you will leave the store very well equipped.

More things, for the most fashion. You have the wrong city. Valencia, when it comes to fashion urbanIt is quite late and there is no store that stands out from the rest. Let's see, there are shops, but they leave a lot to be desired. The only noteworthy is Cool, on San Vicente Mártir street, behind the town hall. Adidas Originals, Nike and other brands of the style. Don't expect to find any Quickstrike models. Some bags and some sneakers are fine. Their watches are laughable. Your dependents are, well, modern.

Leaving fashion aside a bit, and speaking of watches, let's move on to watch-jewelry stores. In Valencia there are two proper names, the rest is not worth it; Giménez and Rabat. There is also Montiel in Marqués de Sotelo, but it is smaller, the only thing that stands out is Hublot. Giménez has tradition and prestige, Rabat innovation and Vertu. Both are on Calle Colón, and Rabat is also on the ground floor of El Corte Inglés by Pintor Sorolla, the manager is nice, although perhaps too much ball, which also happens more or less in Giménez. As a friend of mine who I haven't seen for a long time would say; "In Giménez if you go with money they treat you wonderfully." And where not?

I love the tone you give to the comments about the city. Subjective, and looking at your tastes in general in other posts, I would say that they must be quite reliable.

I plan to attend, and having seen what I have seen, it seems necessary to have alternatives to F1 itself.

I hope there will be more deliveries.
    A greeting!

Friend Javier, I respect your opinion and I usually read your posts, although I am a bit burned out of that air that you give yourself dandy again, criticizing everything that is put ahead of you.
I am also from Valencia, and it seems quite unfair to me how you treat our city, which is, without a doubt, the one that has grown the most in Spain in recent years.
I find it very strange that a foodie like you forgets stores like Chapeau (with Tom Ford, Thom Browne, Cruciani, Prada, Moncler or Comme des Garçons), or Alfredo Esteve I (Dior, Gucci, YSL, Lanvin, Marc Jacobs ...) and Alfredo Esteve II (Kris Van Assche, Dsquared, McQ, Paul Smith, Against My Killer, Viktor & Rolf ...) and focuses so much on Hannover, which is a store that is fine, but has been since 98 (the year in which that he opened) with the same clothes and the same brands. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Hannover customer and a defender of the store, but I don't understand why you criticize Guillermo Miralles's style and praise Hannover's, when they come to be the same. By the way, Miralles himself has two other stores on Moratín street, Eleven (much more informal, and with a touch of Street Wear, not "urban", with brands like Freitag, Y-3, Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons Play , Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nudie Jeans…) and Complements (the only site in VLC where you will find Converse by John Varvatos).
As for Pepe Boscá, I totally agree with you, in fact, I would say that it is the best optician in Spain, for variety and treatment, when you buy there you know that no one else will wear your glasses.
By the way, when you talk about the spectacular building of the Bank of Spain, do you mean the one that looks like a bunker, or rather the one of the Bank of Valencia?
I am telling you all this in a good mood, so you can see that there are more opinions in the world, and that the sentences you make sometimes are not entirely true.
    An anrazo.

Jon, I'm glad you like it, we will continue to give it a try.

Borja, the Banco de Espanya thing is an important mistake, yes, a mistake. Obviously it is the Banco de Valencia. I really don't even know what the Banco de Espanya building is (by now you will have discovered that I write from a foreign keyboard).

Regarding what is the city that has grown the most in Spain ... in what? Whenever you want, and seeing the stores you frequent, we can have a coffee anywhere and discuss it amicably 😉

And what about the stores that I have skipped, Chapeau I do not like, with which to write that better omit it and that of Alfredo Esteve II did not know it directly, I already tell you that I do not usually buy excessively in this our city. In Complements I also did not know that they had Converse By John Varvatos, thanks for the note.

Obviously there are more opinions around the world, I present mine here, the rest of the people are free to express theirs in a comment, as in your case, for example. Sentences? Can. Are you wrong? Perhaps.

And the air that I give myself again dandy, well. Better not comment on anything or better postpone it to that cafe that I proposed lines above. But maybe what burns you is what pushes others to read, whether to hate me or not.

I said, thank you for your comment, surely the most substantial I have read since I wrote here.

    An "anrazo" to you too.

I insist, the keyboard is German ... I do what I can.

In Valencia one of the great references in men's fashion is without a doubt Alfredo Esteve, in both stores you will find the best brands and the best service. gucci, paul smith, Dolce & gabanna, dsquared, ... essential
