Gucci spring / summer 2018

Gucci Spring / Versno 2018

Overflowing with small details that make it immeasurable –as Alessandro Michele is accustomed to us–, Gucci's spring / summer 2018 collection goes from smart to quirky.

The Italian luxury firm once again presented its men's and women's collections together. A dark show called 'Hypnotism' which opens Milan Fashion Week among Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Aztec references.

Tailoring carries great weight in Gucci's proposal for next spring. Michele follows the trend of relaxed suits, but does it with her own code. Jackets that accent the upper with an abundance of fabric and shoulder pads; and trousers that alternate looser shapes with slim fit.

The creative director of the house opts for tartan, pinstripe and solid colors, mostly neutral tones, for his smart pieces.

On the more wearable casual side, stand out graphic knit sweaters, straight jeans (a piece that already appeared in his latest Resort collection) and jackets that are strategically shortened to mark the waist with the help of relaxed pleated pants.

Pieces that form maximalist styles with the addition of a incessant cascade of add-ons ranging from aviator-style sunglasses to fanny packs, through necklaces and bracelets.

The extravagant note was put on by clothes like this Bugs Bunny vest or a series of looks inspired by Elton John's glam rock archive.

The shorts are also very striking, which in their shortest possible version reappear as they did in the Resort collection, demonstrating that Michele does not give up in her efforts to turn male legs into one of the focuses of attention from now on.

UK, the 70s and 80s, the East ... These are some of Alessandro Michele's muses for next spring. A collection that achieves the goal of keeping Gucci as one of the most fascinating firms on the current scene.
