Gucci Fall / winter 2017-2018 in six keys

Gucci Fall 2017

Since Alessandro Michele took over the creative direction, Gucci cannot be classified within a single style. The most appropriate would be maximalist, but that adjective falls short to define everything it represents. And that's one of the reasons that makes it so fascinating.

In case its mixture of times and cultures does not complicate the work of making a summary enough, now we add the fact that the number of looks is expanded to exceed 120. Very aware that the fall / winter 2017-2018 collection of the Italian luxury brand is the most uncompromising to date, we dare to try to reduce it to six keys.

A genderless collection

The idea that clothes should not have gender continues to gain strength, but fashion firms need to bet more clearly on it. With the presentation of a single collection instead of the usual one –two: one male and one female–, Gucci confirms that it is ahead of the rest in the transition towards the definitive break with the classic gender division.

Sassy jewelry and headwear

Gigantic silver piercings dangled from the noses of various models. The septum piercing is one of our favorites, so we are delighted that Alessandro Michele is helping them become a trend. The autumn that you imagine also includes a wide variety of head accessories, among which are Richie Tenenbaum style forehead bands.

Display of sex appeal

You haven't seen so much skin on a Gucci show since the days of Tom Ford. The torsos peek naked from under long coats, suit jackets and stretchy jumpsuits with tiger heads all over the surface, as well as through transparencies.

Punk inspiration

Leather garments, chokers, military boots, studs, spikes and piercings inject some toughness into an essentially romantic collection.

Flora and fauna

Plants and animals (butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, moths, tigers, lions ...) remain as Michele's favorite motifs, being the majority of oriental inspiration. His passion for the cultures of that part of the world is also highlighted in the design of various garments, as well as the inclusion of handmade silk umbrellas in the show.

A brilliant job (literally)

Gucci is willing to break all the rules, including that in the fall you have to dress in muted tones. Glasses, jewelry, dresses, suits, ties, stockings and hoods. All kinds of garments and accessories embrace glitter with the kind with which only Gucci can..
