Fanny packs, the return of the most uncool accessory

Zara

Decades ago, fanny packs disappeared from the stylistic scene, but apparently, there were people who missed this accessory, not very stylish but as functional as it could be.

Numerous firms have opted to bring them back, and in this way to once again offer us the possibility of enjoying that comfort represented by carrying our personal belongings around the waist wherever we went (except for black tie events, of course).

The new generation of fanny packs includes models that offer 90s vibes: small and simple. But we also find others with more space. And it is that the list of essential objects for day to day has increased since then, which is why an adaptation to the new times was necessary.

In addition to the wallet, the house keys and (if you are a smoker) the tobacco pack, now we also need an extra space for the mobile phone and maybe some personal hygiene product. In this way, in the market we find fanny packs that have evolved into full-fledged mini-packs in which we can even fit a pocket book to read on public transport on the way home.

The bigger your fanny pack, the less practical it will be to wear it around the waist like in the old days. The alternative is to wear it across the body. As if it were a shoulder bag, but with the bag on the chest, instead of on the side.

Now that we are living in times in which the uncool aspires to be the new cool (as shown by the latest collections from Balenciaga, Julien David, Junya Watanabe or Lanvin), it seems the ideal time for this return, although he does not have them all with him to succeed on the street, or at least not immediately.
