How to care for dreadlocks?

Dreadlocks

I would never do dreadlocks. Not because I don't like them, because I find them uncomfortable and because I can't go a day without washing my head. But if you are thinking of doing this exotic hairstyle or you have already done it, then you should know that having beautiful dreadlocks takes a long time to have them well and for that, you need to know about some care.

All the Dreadlocks, also known as dreadlocks, require from the beginning a dedicated time and a lot of hygiene. Once done, you should go 3-4 weeks without washing your hair. This is done to get each hair of each dread to join. If this is not fulfilled, the dreadlocks can be undone.

After that time, they can be washed. The dreadlocks are washed with the shampoo that is falling. It is very important not to rub the dreadlocks so they do not fall apart. Avoid rinse creams or conditioning masks as they will make your hair softer and more slippery. The important thing is to pour plenty of water to avoid residues between the hairs. Finally, you should dry your hair using a hair dryer, thus avoiding the musty smell.

When you notice that there are hairs or strands escaping from the dreadlocks, you should dedicate a technique every day using a crochet needle as fine as possible to insert the hair back into the dreadlocks.

Do you have dreadlocks? Tell us about your care ...

Hello brother, I have dread a year ago, the care is simple, do not wash them more than twice a week, always be with the crochet auguja and fix them daily for their greater hardness white soap and good candle wax and nothing else, and other things If you get lice, do not cut them, dye them because the dye kills them all, a great man and good vibes!

Ola pz you can get the dreadlocks in Coyoacan they charge you depending on the length of the hair, usually they charge you more than 500 pesos, and another way to take care of them is by putting it liquid and burning them, and ovio with the needle, the liquid is also sold The coyoacon with an rsat who is Cuban is called Jonathan and only he sells the liquid.

  5.   Monse said

Look for jonathan in coyoacan and he will buy the dreadlocks, and he sells the liquid, they are very good to me, he made them for me for 2 years and he fixes them himself, it is not only to have dreadlocks for fashion, it is because you are really going to take care of them…. I advise you to wear them in coyo.

    1.    Jorge Ravelo said

They do not get thick, what I do to make them fatter is that every time my family brushes their hair, I put the hairs and I put them in my dreads and they smell bad if you wash them and then you tie them there if I know t do with the smell of shiido de leon

Good morning 🙂 well io two days ago that I made a dreadlocks and they advised me to make two, cut one and join it to the other so that it would be longer for the hairdresser that I have been told they have told me to wait What do you think?
There are places where they have dreadlocks, I know many people and in my institute, when you eat they make them for free = D

    1.    lalocadelarbol said

Hey, if they give it to you for free I would like to ask you something, do you really think they are going to make free dreadlocks that are good?
at most that will last you a day or two ... don't be fooled and if you want dreadlocks go to a good place

    2.    ailuu said

And do not you dare to do them yourself? For free they will not do them eeeh, unless you know a rasta, they have the posta they come with this for years, if you dare to do them I advise you an ajuga crochet 14 silver, it is Barbara,

There are 1000 different ways to fix a dreadlock for mine, the only thing I do is take care of them with the crochet daily, not taking a shower is an idiot because dreadlocks grow faster when they are clean and hydrated. It is true that they increase in volume but only if you put the hairs that come out of the root. To shower you can shower normally, when I shower I rub them with the palms of my hands and my dreadlocks are well cared for

Hello I made dreadlocks about a month ago but the paintings did not make me good. Someone can tell me if they can be done again or they will stay like that mmm also it is that I do not know how to do so that the paintings do not dehsagan. but I made them very short, how am I going to keep the dreadlocked? help !!!

    1.    ailuu said

I advise you to go fixing the tip, make it round, after a few times you fix it, if you harden it well, it will not disarm you anymore, if you get some hairs that are too short and they can no longer get the dreadlock burn it , but very last, do not go to burn all the rasta qda horrible afterwards! Good luck with that, with respect to the paintings, it cannot be done again, unless you want to give it shape by cutting some hairs, but it does not suit you, leave it like that, it is not a protocol to have a painting made for each rasta. Kisses

The dreadlocks are washed. They are washed if you have not done them with products, if you have done them naturally you can wash them as many times as necessary, always with shampoos that do not contain conditioners or chemical ingredients. Coco soap is great.
They are arranged with the palms of the hands and with a crochet (crocheted).
If they are clean you don't have to have lice.
Crayons, candles, glues ... do not help !!!!!! (they just make you mash the hair).
The partitions (little squares that they make in your hair to make the dreadlocks) are made the first time and only by undoing the dreadlocks can they be modified.
You have to make the partitions so that the bricks are ocmo when you build a wall, so that in this way your scalp is not visible.
    To make them:
The partitions are made (the normal thing is that between 40 and 60 dreadlocks come out).
Then the hair is combed in the opposite direction to normal, to carde it.
Then pallrolling is done (with the hands rubs the «rasta»).
Then with a crochet hook (number 10-15) the hairs that are loose are put inside the dreadlocks.

ps the truth to me, all this is more like a myth to me everything that was designed from not washing them until they can only be fixed with a crochet and rubbing them I think that any thinking person with more than 2 neurons in the brain should devise a good way to fix them without being hopeful to get that famous crochet and less to put fixer on it, it seems like something very silly ps this simple, look for a way to make the hairs that come out, return to where they should belong little by little, do not worry about anything more than the famous crochet ???? hehehehehe it is not a big deal to make them because I saw them alone and they were the first ones that Asia in my life, now I have been with them for 2 years and 7 months when my hair barely measures between 12 and 15 cm and I have them perfectly Aregladas I work my head 2 times a week and I fix them every 2 times and they are very well, they almost do not decompose, nothing is very little, almost only the roots and that of q at the beginning they are loose and with time they tighten is not Yes, if they are well done, they are tight at the moment of finishing sawing the dreadlocks if it is not difficult to tighten over time if they seize it but not much and usually where they are seized and I say why myself I throw them to more people Lla is one a little tired and lla does not roast them as well as he should the fingers and wrists get very tired but the work of grinding them is very long if you want them to fit well and do not walk later with so many problems or those of the part from behind my head I have them a little loose why notI was able to make them well because of the discomfort and the shortness of my hair when I saw them and those are the ones that give me the most problems and that they thicken over time ps depends on how you fix the root if you know how to fix it, they do not thicken is Rather, the ends of the Abeses are too burned because a lot of hair is already dead and loses vitality and it breaks and very small pieces of hair start to come out with the bathed ones and at the time of fixing them and they begin to become thinner and more careful any question write to me learrsi888@hotmail.com
aaaaa and if it is only those who carry them or take them, it would not be for others to know that they are not dreadlocks, they are dreadlocks, rasta is a relijion and dreadlocks are the practitioners of said relijion
It is also not important to leave you a month if you wash your hair even if it would not be more than a week in which the hair gets a little used to its new position and if they do not last a day without washing their hair, it is not a problem because it is only The custom called me the same thing happened to me and now I can bear it without problems, it does not take long to get used to labartelo a little less than normal hahahaha. I hope to be helpful
    and good vibes siblings

I just made dreadlocks but I would like to know which shampoo to use so that it does not damage them ??????
or I just don't have to use shampoo ?????

    1.    baby said

The shampoo is convenient for you to use, because otherwise the hair is not cleaned well, there is no shampoo that guarantees that it will not damage your dreadlocks, so dedicate yourself to fixing them if they fall apart. good luck, and good vibes 🙂

I use a natural coconut shampoo, without conditioners, it leaves the hair clean and dry without damaging the scalp and hardly leaves any residue between the hair, it is quite good

  28.   quetzal said

Well, it is not necessary but if you get one out there that leaves your hair very dry that would be fine if not you can only make it with coconut soap there is a chingon smell with that and it does not have chemicals or you could even make it with some powder soap that be a little strong some friends of mine use the roma but whatever is something strong is fine it leaves the hair very dry and also cleans it very well only that you must dilute it in water as much as possible then you strain it with a cloth use a lot of soap al dilute so it will be spoiled when straining it and will not leave any residue on your dreads ok luck

HELLO SINCE EVERYONE COMMENTS I WILL GIVE MY OPINION ... I HAVE DREAD A YEAR AGO AND A FEW MONTHS, I LOVE THEM, I ALSO MADE THEM TO ME ONLY ONE BY ONE AS I READ ABOUT THERE ... I HAVE 26, FEW BECAUSE THEY ARE SIZE THICKNESS OF MORE OR LESS 1CM AND BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE AS IF I WERE A CREST BUT IN STRIPES ... IT IS UNDERSTOOD, THEY REMAINED THAT WAY BECAUSE I JUST PUSHED ON THE SIDES IS HOW I COULD GET PATIENCE TO ENDURE WHAT MY HAIR GROWED, AND OTHERWISE I GOT ANNOYING THE GOR .. AND I WOULD END UP CUTTING IT, GOOD FINALLY.
AS EVERYONE SAID YOU MUST WASH IN VUANDO, NEUTRAL SOAP AND NEEDLE (THEY ARE NOT PRIMED WITH THE NEEDLE BECAUSE THEY CAN CUT YOUR HAIR WITH THE CROCHET) ANOTHER THING I DO NOT PUT IT IS OPTIONAL WITH WHAT DO YOU WANT TO MESS YOUR HEAD? WAX GETS DIES AND IT IS NOT EASY TO REMOVE I THINK WE ALL LIKE DRAWINGS OR WE WEAR IT FOR SOME SPECIAL SENSE FOR EACH ONE (AS IS MY CASE) HEH .. BUT WE DON'T LIKE THAT OUR HEAD IS ALL DIRTY… BEFORE ALL CLEAN HEAD AND LOOK UP ...

    That there have been people,
I also have dreads for 8 months, but I had to grow my hair before for 2 years so that they could be a little "long" and not so thin. I have 42. My original hair is "curly (Chinese)". The care of them is as they say; wash them once a week, and be patiently fixing the hook one by one, every month I go to have roots and hair tightened that I cannot accommodate and / or to remove the annoying of roots stuck between dreads. I wash them with plenty of shampoo as well as rinse them with plenty of water, before passing the towel (without rubbing) I squeeze each of the dreads with my fingers to "drain" it, with the towel I only remove excesses and finish with the dryer (demand long time). I do not use wax due to bad experiences with acquaintances and not knowing how to use it. If you don't have enough hair, you can put extensions between your legitimate hair. Go to someone experienced so they don't spoil your hair. Greetings

Yes, thanks to a neighbor who knows how to do them ^^. And they are cleaner than people think.

Well the truth is that it has to be informed about the dreadlooks, first when approaching it, you must sew with the needle only, do not add candle wax or anything like that, just sew it, you can wait 2 days without wetting it and then there is no danger (you can take a bath without wet it) then the care is basically to sew them with a car needle ... and if you want it to shine you can add coconut juice (coconut essence) or aloe vera ... (natural things) and you will see how the dread grows quietly, if the bace grows You can either sew it with the needle, or turn them over in case, (you pass the tip through a tuft of the bace) the sea water helps the young dread a lot .. well I hope it will help you ... I have dreads for 2 and a half years ..and now dreadlocks, well a lucky hug with your natty dreads!

Regarding washing them promptly (freshly made and followed) it would be for everyone's comfort, since when washing them some hair comes out and you have to be touching them every so often. Well, just as lucky with your dreads!

Wash them with white soap and squeeze them (squeeze them) to remove the excess water, dry them in the sun or with a dryer! Never leave them damp and in the shade because they stink and can get fungus or mold, and for swelling, use rosemary oil and you didn't fix the root for a while! Blesses

Well, I have three fantastic dreadlocks so for those cares…. what I do is that it lasts a month without getting them wet I put bags on myself, but now that month I was on the beach which with my experience and the one I made them ( in Cancun) the sea water helps a lot and for those who poenzan it wuele dead fish is not a myth and something else after time they do not smell ugly or anything like that they only start to smell ugly when wax is used, or some other product or the burning of hair the easiest thing is natural, it goes after that time every time to make your dread and in 5 to 10 minutes they turn and turn with both hands one hand at the root (with the fingers) and another in the middle = with your fingers and then rub them with both hands from root to point to burn the dead hair, they can bathe and wet them whenever they want (recommended with coconut soap) but only on the scalp it makes enough foam and with that they would not have lice and wash their head at the same time and moisturize the hair and strengthen it with its foam, when you leave the bathroom, grab a towel and your dreadlocks one by one and squeeze a little with the towel to dry later with the dryer and want to 100 and of course with the needle put the little hairs that come out:) …… another thing every 2 or 3 months if you want it to get tangled up again, bn the dread, go and have the root fixed …… it doesn't matter how many times you wet them, what you do with it It will be indestructible if it is tangled up .... luck any other questions let me know

Hello!! I want to put dreadlocks but the place where I live is hot, will it be true that it is faster to get lice if I do it?

  44.   ailuu said

Hello q taal!,. I am 17 years old, and I have dreadlocks for 2. I did them because I learned from a good dreadlock and I love them.
I do not do so much quilombo to take care of them, it is simple, I wash my hair every day, I do not put rinse cream because it frays them, I use white soap so that they are very hard, and in case they fall apart I fix them with a needle silver 14. I make the tips round, it is not difficult to do and they look good, in case the tips bloom, (because the hair continues to grow and therefore the tips bloom or are white, I recommend disassembling the tip, cut the flowered hairs and reassemble it every so often,) it is true that over time they become thicker although with the needle you can lower the knot so that it is not so wide on one side and finite on the other. With regard to washing, it is good to dry them after bathing so that they do not remain damp or collect water ... it happens many times with the dreadlocks of the last layer (the longest) that makes your neck and back damp and you get itchy / lice For this reason it is good to have them dry, I recommend that the hair is as good as possible, clean. So it does not collect dirt, lint, sand, (it is a nuisance at the beach) haha lice etc, rub it if there are very short hairs, or last, burn it, Only those hairs ... not all the rasta because it is very bad,
So guys, it is nothing crazy to keep them, as far as possible to have a hand with the needle, patience and a lot of love with them!
So nothing, good luck and do not cut it, it is not a fashion, but a lifestyle <3
    Very good vibe to everyone
    Jah bless!

Your tas, smoke, brother, the dreadlocks can be washed the day after making them with their respective shampoo for dreadlocks and because it has a perfect Ph for them, not like the other shampoos that can damage the dreadlocks and to wash them, you crush them like a sponge not with much strength and to rinse them from your specific shampoo, do the same but with only water the rest of the dryer and loose hair is true but 3 to 4 weeks without washing them that is an urban legend inform yourself before publishing something

Hello, I have two very long dreadlocks, but they have become like white fluff and I wash them every day, how can I remove the fluff?
    Bless

I have had a rasta for 2 years and once I washed them, I dried them with a hair dryer so that I don't get fungus ... And the fluff you have is not necessarily fungus.

I have dreadlocks for 4 months and the labia do not fall apart every day I use a crochet needle every month, and by the way I only did them, it is a life apart to have this hairstyle a lot of dedication and time but it is worth watching them grow ... and that is not Laverce is not true that if it helps you to mature, do not wash them ... but with me hygiene is first, good vibes, greetings to all Rastas
