Amarula, the South African liquor

Amarula

I don't know if all of them, but many of the cities or countries in the world have their characteristic drink. Just as tequila is from Mexico, whiskey from Scotland and vodka from Russia, Amarula is from South Africa.

This liquor is made from the fruit produced by the Marula tree, a plant that only grows in African lands. This fruit has the shape and size of a yellowish plum, with a white pulp and a large stone inside. For its elaboration, the berries are picked by hand and subjected to a fermentation process to be transformed into wine that must rest for two years in oak barrels. Then, it is paired with fresh cream to achieve a creamy mixture with 17 ° of alcohol.

In South Africa, the Marula is a tree with aphrodisiac powers, so many marriages take place under its lush crown.

If you like Baileys, you will surely like Amarula.
